Indooroopilly Toastmasters meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month @ 6.45 for 7pm at Kyle Common Room, Emmanuel College, University of Queensland, St Lucia campus. The meetings break for a yummy supper at 8pm and conclude by 9pm so that you can get home to bed at a reasonable hour. We understand that you either have work the next day, have kids, need to study or just want to go home to bed after a wonderful night of fun and entertainment.

Guests are welcome to attend meetings. You will be met by one of our friendly members and introduced to other members at the meeting. This helps you to feel welcome and at least know someone else at the meeting. Members will be wearing name badges so you won’t have to remember their names- you can have a quick look at their name badge- and you will be given a name sticker so that we can call you by name.

When you call ahead of time to say you will be attending, then someone will be on the lookout for you to welcome you. The room will be set up with tables and chairs facing the front of the room where the lectern is and where the meeting will be conducted from.

Learning any new skill takes time, dedication and perseverance. And the best thing about Toastmasters is that you can do this all in an atmosphere of a positive learning environment. You will hear experienced Toastmasters- remember they have had plenty of support from club members and started their public speaking journey just like you- attending a Toastmasters meeting for the first time!

A printed program outlines the segments planned for the meeting. Each meeting has a variety of segments prepared and presented by members. Some segments get everyone involved and some segments have only a few or even one member presenting. You may ”pass” if you do not want to speak- there will be no pressure to stand up and talk in front of the group.

Club meetings are workshops where you practice your communication and leadership skills with others who are there for the same reasons you are. You learn by doing and by watching fellow club members.

Our Vice- President Education (VPE) makes sure the program is fun, entertaining and full of variety.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings – are you ready to take up the challenge ? View the Sample Program here.
