Who Are We?
Indooroopilly Club was chartered on 6th October 1980, meeting at that time in the Uniting Church Hall, Station Road, Indooroopilly. The club keep maintains that ‘people learn best whilst enjoying themselves’ and the success of this philosophy is demonstrated in the achievements of the members. Apart from succeeding in personal goals of better communication and leadership skills, increased self esteem and self confidence, many members have attained honours in speech competition by reaching District level. Two of our members have represented our District 69 in the United States. In 1988 Bernie Kelly, having won the District Speech Competition, gained third place in the World Speaking Championship in the United States. Bernie Kelly has since moved into a career dedicated to speaking, training and motivation, in the corporate and private sectors. In 1995 and 2000, Kevin Ryan won the District 69 Speech Contest and went on to represent our District against Toastmasters from around the world in the Inter-District Speech Contest in the USA. He now conducts his own business as a professional speaker and trainer. Over the years, many members of our club have reached the District level in all contests. Our club is a dynamic club dedicated to fulfilling the mission of Toastmasters International in an atmosphere of consideration, fun and friendship. The professional standard of our club is upheld as a role model for all clubs throughout District 69 .
